Douglas Michael Studio is a Detroit-based, queer-owned creative studio built at the intersection of art, community, advocacy, and creativity. The studio produces original visual work and provides creative direction for events and community experiences.
Its debut project, The Dirty Deck™, is a fully illustrated 54-card playing deck that reframes familiar symbols through themes of power, hierarchy, and desire. Designed as a playable object, the deck invites people to physically engage with imagery that is often overlooked but widely shared.
Led by artist and creative director Doug Furgason, the studio is also shaped by experience producing large-scale drag pageants and leading initiatives that support visibility and equitable opportunity. Rooted in curiosity and collaboration, Douglas Michael Studio creates work that is both expressive and grounded in real community impact.
